Mimicry

In evolutionary biology, mimicry is a similarity of one species to another that protects one or both. In the case of prey species, it is a class of antipredator adaptation. This similarity can be in appearance, behaviour, sound or scent. Mimics occur in the same areas as their models.

Mimicry occurs when a group of organisms, the mimics, evolve to share perceived characteristics with another group, the models. The evolution is driven by the selective action of a signal-receiver or dupe. Birds, for example, use sight to identify palatable insects (the mimics), whilst avoiding the noxious models.

The model is usually another species, except in cases of automimicry. The deceived signal-receiver is typically another organism, such as the common predator of two species. As an interaction, mimicry is in most cases advantageous to the mimic and harmful to the receiver, but may increase, reduce or have no effect on the fitness of the model depending on the situation. The model may be hard to identify: for example, eye spots may not resemble any specific organism's eyes, and camouflage often cannot be attributed to a particular model.

Model is a Turkish rock band based in İzmir, Turkey.

History

The Group was founded with name "A due Carmen" in 2005 by Okan Işık, Aşkın Çolak and Can Temiz. This trio attended Fatma Turgut and Serkan Gürüzümcü in 2007. The group's name was changed to "Model" in 2008. The group's first album name "Perili Sirk" in 2009.

Awards

2010 Digital Age Awards - Most Innovative Music / Sound Design winner song composed for Efes Pilsen. The band also won the Billboard Special Jury Award in Roxy Music Days under the name "A due Carmen"

Oxygen (film)

Oxygen is a 1999 film, directed and written by Richard Shepard. The film follows a troubled cop, Madeline Foster (played by Maura Tierney) as she pursues a kidnapper who calls himself Harry Houdini (Adrien Brody). The film was shot on location in New York City.

Plot

"Harry Houdini" (Adrien Brody) has kidnapped and buried alive a rich businessman's wife. He demands $1 million in cash from the woman's husband in return for the release of the location of her burial site before she runs out of oxygen. He also states that if police involvement is initiated, he will ensure she is never found alive. As expected, however, police involvement is initiated and Detective Madeline Foster (Maura Tierney) is assigned with the task of finding the buried woman and catching Houdini.

It is quickly realized though that Houdini, in fact, wanted the police to get involved so he could commit a second kidnapping - that of Foster. When Houdini is finally caught as the result of a car chase involving him and Detective Foster, she attempts to get him to reveal the location of his buried victim. When Foster's initial interrogation of Houdini proves unsuccessful, the FBI are assigned to take over the case, although they do not have any more luck. In a plot twist, it is revealed that Houdini has already committed a murder, that of his accomplice. He now has nothing to lose and the police realize the death of the buried woman would not be as significant as first thought.

Oxygen (Avalon album)

Oxygen is Avalon's fifth studio album, released on May 22, 2001, and produced by Brown Bannister and Grant Cunningham. The project was strongly supported by Christian radio, containing six No. 1 radio singles—the most of any Avalon album to date. Oxygen is the first (and so far, only) album by the group to release alongside a Collector's Edition, which features a hidden bonus track, "Beyond the Clouds".

Reception

Indicating in a four star review by CCM Magazine, Bert Saraco depicts, "Brewster keeps things musically fresh and gets some extra points for some fiery guitar breaks." Jeremy Armstrong, in a four and a half star review from Worship Leader, recognizing, "Oxygen is certainly his strongest effort in recent history". In agreement with the four and a half star rating is Caitlin Lassiter of New Release Tuesday, describing, "Oxygen seems to be the perfect mix of emotions." Nathan Key, writes a three and a half star review for HM Magazine, realizing, "Oxygen would have been better served by cutting a few songs." Lins Honeyman, allocating a nine out of ten rating upon the album from Cross Rhythms, says, "another quality slice of praise from one of America's most experienced worship artists." Signaling in a three and a half star review for Jesus Freak Hideout, Bert Gangl derides, "Of course, cracks are bound to show in the proverbial pavement of just about any musical project." Jono Davies, rating the album four stars at Louder Than the Music, writes, "This is more than just another solid album from Lincoln, these songs are happy songs that will leave you with a smile on your face, and if you like to dance, go and dance in worship." Rating the album 3.0 out of five for Christian Music Review, Logan Merrick says, "Oxygen is a solid record."
